Lake Laura Sediment Removal Fundraising Update

10/24/2015

As time grows short to collect contributions to support a sediment removal effort, we have exciting news to announce.

As the Friends of Lake Laura closes in on $15,000 in contributions, a generous supporter has made a sizable ($2,000) pledge and has offered to match all pledges of contributions up to an additional $8,000. The matching pledge offer expires November, 15, 2015 and is contingent on raising enough pledges and/or contributions for the project to go forward and the Resort signing a work agreement with a contractor. You can make your pledge contingent in the same way.

If you have not contributed or pledged yet, please consider doing so now. If you have contributed, we appreciate your generosity and ask that you please consider making an additional pledge.
For additional details and a pledge form, please see the Pledge Challenge section of the Friends of Lake Laura website.

Status of Lake Laura Dam Reconstruction Work

10/8/2015

As anybody visiting Lake Laura can tell, the lake drawdown has been completed and the dam construction work is well underway. While the wet fall has slowed some of the work (and caused a slight re-filling of the lake), ASI, the dam contractor, has informed the resort that the work on the Lake Laura dam should be completed by this winter and the Lake will be available for recreational use this summer.

In regards to the status of removing sediment while the lake is drawn down, the resort continues to work on obtaining the necessary permits and has been contacting contractors to receive bids for the work. The scope of the work is still uncertain given the total amount of funds raised for the effort. The Friends of Lake Laura continue to solicit donations so that we can maximize the sediment removal effort. (If you haven’t yet made a contribution, please consider doing so.)

As always, as we receive news, we will post it here.
