As currently planned, ASI will start moving in equipment for the dam effort in mid August. They plan to start working on the toe of the dam (at the outflow and settling pool) in mid September and start pouring the roller-compacted concrete (RCC) in late September with the RCC work completed by the end of December. The RCC work cannot be performed when there are periods of extended freezing and so must be completed by December.
This schedule will require that the Resort start the Lake Laura draw down the first week of August. With the expected draw down rate, the Resort expects the lake to become unusable by mid August. ASI plans on completing the Lake Laura dam work by spring resulting in the lake being available again for summer operation in 2016.
If the draw down were to start after Labor Day, ASI predicts a significant risk of the RCC work extending into the spring resulting in the Resort losing access to the lake for most or all of summer 2016.
ASI and DCR will hold several public information sessions in conjunction with the Resort over the summer. When these sessions are scheduled, we will post the dates of the sessions here.
